Dr. Ashely Thompson has accepted the position with OSU Tree Fruit Extension at The Dalles. Ashley is currently a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She received her PhD in Horticulture from Virginia Polytechnic Institute working on “The Effects of Rootstock Selection and Carbon-based Fertility Amendments on Apple Orchard Productivity and Soil Community Ecology”. She previously earned an MS in Ecology and Environmental Science from the University of Maine, and a BS in Biology from Susquehanna University. Her current research interests include improving heirloom tomato yield and quality using rootstocks and enhancing the biodegradation of weed barriers in vegetable systems. She should be arriving for work at the end of April.
