Trellis Engineering Analysis Project – Input Needed

Washington Tree Fruit Research Commission has recently funded a Trellis Engineering Analysis Project. The project goal is to develop a standardized design practice for selecting a trellis or superstructure based on expected yields and environmental factors.

Project lead is Mark De Kleine Ph.D. of De Kleine Machine Co. in Prosser. PI’s include Paul Booker P.E., Charles Pezeshki Ph.D. and Karen Lewis. Industry advisors include Bruce Allen, Dave Gleason, Scott Jacky, Jeff Cleveringa, Mark Stennis, Dale Goldy and Travis Allan.

One objective of Phase I is to assemble a trellis failure summary. In-field evaluations and diagnostics will be the primary effort but to guide us and bring more to our data collection effort, we have developed the attached survey. If you know of trellis failures and the details surrounding the failure – please complete the survey. If you just have comments or suggestions about trellis and netting structures in general, there is a space on the survey for that as well.

Please take the survey if appropriate. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/DeKeineTrellisWTFRC

Comments via email or cell welcomed and appreciated.
