Apple technician training for China work plan and Taiwan systems approach work plan

The Taiwan Systems Approach Work Plan for exporting apples to Taiwan requires orchard sampling or field bin sampling to determine if the orchard lots are eligible for consideration for export. Those who do orchard and/or bin sampling must attend mandatory training (technician certification is good for up to two years) if they don’t have a Pest Consultant’s License (PCO) or a Commercial Applicator’s License issued by the Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA). The work plan also requires facilities to have a minimum of two certified cull cutting technicians to sample for codling moth infestation. Retraining must be repeated every two years to maintain certification.
The China work plan requires an apple sample to be taken and cut online by a trained technician.
This training session will cover both the orchard survey and field bin sampling, and cull cutter certification, for Taiwan and the 40-fruit sample process for China. Anyone trained last year does not need to attend again this year; there are no significant changes to either work plan.
