NW Pear Research Review
February 20 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pmFree
The WA Tree Fruit Research Commission on behalf of the Pear Marketing Order #927 would like to extend an open invitation to attend this year’s NW Pear Research Review. The morning session will feature reports on ongoing projects related to several topics including pear fruit quality, biological control of pear psylla, new approaches in managing gray mold, and refinement of fire blight control strategies. Pear growers are encouraged to join the pear research subcommittee at lunch to discuss the prospect of supporting a new pear breeding program.
In the afternoon, final reports will be presented for several projects including some focused-on fire blight management, scald solutions, and postharvest decay. The subcommittee will then hear a series of new proposals, include some related to developing a phenology-based management program for psylla, fire blight product testing for effective recommendations, and Brown Marmorated Stink Bug management.
The program is free and open to the public; there is no preregistration required. A full agenda is available here and on the WA Tree Fruit Research Commission website (www.treefruitresearch.org) approximately two weeks in advance of the review.
