Call for Collaborators: Pear Irrigation Efficiencies Project

Dear pear growers –
We would like to invite you to participate in a demonstration project in collaboration with WSU and Cascadia Conservation District. The objective of this project is to demonstrate Best Management Practices which increase fruit quality (reducing cork/increasing fruit size) and improve irrigation efficiency. Participants in this project will receive cost share to install irrigation improvements and get to help improve our understanding of how we can increase fruit quality and irrigation efficiency.

Demonstration projects are part of a larger project led by Dr. Lee Kalcsits who is installing research plots this spring designed to determine more precisely how much water we need when to optimize fruit quality.

For more information download the application here. irrigation project application (2018.05.12)

Funding for this project is provided in part by the Tree Fruit Research Commission Fresh Pear Committee and Bonneville Environmental Foundation.
