The tree fruit physiology program in Prosser has investigated fruit quality and crop load management for two decades. Dave has worked in Northwest agriculture for nearly 40 years\, specializing in financial planning\, capital budgeting\, statistics\, information systems\, and data analysis. He has led the Washington State Fruit Commission’s cherry crop estimation program for about 20 years. Agrimanagement provides agronomic\, horticultural\, and pest management consulting to farmers in Washington and Oregon\, as well as contract research services for the agricultural chemical industry. \nMatt Whitting leads an applied\, whole-tree physiology research and extension program in Prosser that addresses key issues limiting orchard sustainability.  His program also focuses on improving production efficiency with mechanization and orchard systems. \nTobin Northfield is an Associate Professor for WSU Department of Entomology. He leads an interdisciplinary task force comprising researchers and representatives from government and industry that works to improve management X-disease and Little cherry disease. He leads a project focusing on X-disease vector management including the use of cultural controls such as Surround and Extenday. \nScott Harper is an Associate Professor for WSU Department of Plant Pathology. His research program focuses on viruses and other systemic pathogens of perennial crops in the Pacific Northwest. \nFrank Zhao is a Professor and Endowed Chair in Bacterial Diseases of Tree Fruits at Washington State University College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. His research and extension program focuses on bacterial diseases of tree fruits\, including fire blight of apples and pears and bacterial canker disease of cherries. \nGarrett Bishop from GS Long Company works with fieldstaff\, growers and packinghouse operations. He helps investigate and problem solve different tree and fruit disorders in the Tree Fruit Industry. These plant disease diagnostics includes bacterial & fungal cankers\, environment stresses\, nutritional variances\, fruit maturity and viruses with focus on little cherry virus and X-disease phytoplasma. \nSegun Akinbade leads the Fruit Tree Certification Program for the Washington State Department of Agriculture. The program works with certified nurseries within WA to ensure that trees (Malus\, Prunus\, and Pyrus) produced in these nurseries are as clean as the G1 materials sourced from Clean Plant Centers. Nurseries in the program are regularly inspected\, mother trees are constantly tested\, and infected trees\, if found\, are removed immediately. The Fruit Tree Certification Program is at the forefront of mitigating the spread of Little Cherry Disease (LCD) in nursery stocks by conducting an annual survey of mother trees as well as the removal of any infected trees. \nCredits Q&A\nWSDA pesticide update credits.
