Invitation to attend the Washington Tree Fruit Research Commission Apple Horticulture & Postharvest Review and Crop Protection Review in Yakima

The Washington Tree Fruit Research Commission (WTFRC) is inviting all interested industry members to attend two upcoming research reviews in Yakima later this month. Both reviews will take place at the Red Lion Yakima Center. Research projects funded with industry money are presented.  The general format of the reviews consists of a sequence of final reports, followed by new project proposals and continuing project reports. Both reviews conclude with a poster session and social hour to facilitate interaction with scientists and industry.

The Apple Horticulture & Postharvest Review, held on January 25th, 2017 from 8am – 6pm, features final reports on pollen tube growth modeling, Honeycrisp storage and bitter pit management, food safety, superficial scald risk assessment, apple breeding tools, and mechanical pruning and harvesting. A full agenda can be viewed on the WTFRC webpage (http://treefruitresearch.com/research-reviews/apple-review).

The Crop Protection Review in Yakima, held on January 26th, 2017 from 10:30 – 6pm, features final reports on kairomones to attract and kill codling moth, brown marmorated stink bug control, biological pest management strategies, and apple maggot economic impact of damage. A full agenda can be viewed on the WTFRC webpage (http://treefruitresearch.com/research-reviews/apple-crop-protection-review).

The meetings are free and open to the public.  Pesticide credits may be available. Written reports are obtainable at the meeting on CD, in print, or via drop box.
