WSU has licensed the International New-Varieties Network LLC as the exclusive licensee for WA 64 in the United States and internationally.
International New-Varieties Network LLC has appointed Willow Drive Intellectual Property Protection of Washington State to issue licenses for WA 64.
Nurseries that meet all certification requirements can be licensed by Willow Drive Intellectual Property Protection to propagate and sell nursery trees of WA 64 in the State of Washington. Home gardener trees will be available at licensed nurseries, but only for planting in the State of Washington.
Only growers in the State of Washington can be licensed to grow WA 64.
Trees may be planted for farmgate sales but will also require proper licenses.
First commercial harvests are expected around 2029, give or take a year, with commercial apples starting to become available in fall of 2030.
The trademark name has yet to be finalized, but will be announced in the coming months.
