WSU Decision Aid System Update April

Written by Liesl Oeller, Washington State University, April 2, 2026

In early Spring, one of the most important models to watch is tree bloom. The apple, pear, blueberry, and grape models have all started; use DAS to check when bloom is predicted to start at your location. Currently, bloom has begun in southern Washington, with other locations predicted to start in the coming weeks. With bloom comes other important models like fire blight and honey bee foraging. Watching for fire blight is especially important when bloom is starting and rain is predicted.

Now is the perfect time to subscribe to DAS! Keep track of pest emergence and see management options as the season progresses. You can use our time machine tool to look back on weather data from the last 5 years and see how 2026 compares. You can also set up alerts to remind you when key pests are emerging for timely management. Check out our new spray selection tool to see what products can be used for a variety of different tree fruit pests.

We have new subscription options for users subscribed to 5 or more stations. If you are interested in learning more, contact DAS.
