FreeBin Liner – “The Airbag for Fruit”
Henco Smit will present his work from South Africa and Washington on reducing bruising from orchard to warehouse with his bin liners and Impact Monitoring System.
Henco has engineered it to be a reusable, ventilated shock-absorbing bin liner that is an “Airbag”. It protects fruit during the post-harvest handling process from picking to line dumper with a demonstrated increase of 1½ to 3 packs per bin.
Henco will also introduce growers and warehouses to an wireless Impact Monitoring System that pinpoints bruising hotspots in the supply chain and provides practical solutions to further reduce bruising and improve packouts.
Henco has 26 years of experience managing apple warehouses and working closely with growers in South Africa. Combined with his wealth of international experience, Henco is now engineering practical solutions for growers and warehouses to improve their packouts and handling efficiencies.
