Sprayer Field Day with an emphasis on optimizing coverage to take advantage of new technologies

Demonstrated in hops, but applicable to grapes and tree fruit. All industries welcome.

This workshop will focus on understanding and working with sprayers to improve deposition and pest control while reducing drift and expenses. The importance of nozzles, pressure, speed and air are shown and then related to the use of new precision spray technology that targets spraying only the canopy. These principles of “planning, doing, and checking” should be applied to any sprayer but also critical when investing in new technologies and trying to optimize ROI. Additionally, we will demonstrate closed transfer systems for pesticides and how to avoid worker exposure.
