Salary Range: $77,488 to $119,787/Per Year

The USDA-ARS is seeking a highly qualified candidate for a permanent, full-time scientific position to be located at the Oregon State University Mid-Columbia Agriculture Research and Extension Center (OSU-MCAREC) in Hood River, Oregon.

 

This position affords the opportunity to:

 

  • Develop an innovative, highly visible, postharvest research program focusing on identification of pre- and postharvest horticultural practices that influence pear and sweet cherry fruit quality.

 

  • Interact with pear and sweet cherry producers, packers, and shippers to identify knowledge gaps limiting industry progress and develop research objectives consistent with industry needs.

 

  • Contribute to and participate as a team member of the ARS National Program 306 Product Quality and New Uses project based in Wenatchee, WA.

 

  • Collaborate with OSU-MCAREC personnel as well as tree fruit research groups in the PNW including ARS and university scientists, and other domestic and international scientists as appropriate.
