Pear Irrigation Virtual Field Event

Join WSU Extension for a discussion of irrigation for fruit quality in pears. We will cover new research results as well as look at irrigation upgrades including soil moisture sensors and micro-irrigation. This event will be held as a virtual field day due to CoVoid-19 safety measures.
Agenda
3:00-3:30 pm – Virtual Field day presented through Zoom.
3:30-4:00 pm – Q&A with growers and researchers.
- Learn about the results of recent research with Dr Lee Kalcsits on irrigation in pears.
- Growers Larry and Renee Caudle and Brandon Long will share their experiences with irrigation system upgrades. Caudles installed a micro-system. to improve water infiltration and distribution in steep block with runoff and small fruit challenges in 2018. Brandon Long worked with irrigation set lengths determined by soil moisture in 2019.
- Irrigation sensor demos, Troy Peters, WSU Irrigation Specialist; Jac le Roux, Wilbur Ellis.
- Options for irrigation upgrades. Cascadia Conservation District with Sandy Letzing.
