The Washington State Tree Fruit Association in partnership with Washington State University and the Produce Safety Alliance (PSA), will hold a PSA Integrated Training course on April 1 and 2, 2020, in Wenatchee, WA.
The PSA Integrated Training combines both the PSA Grower Training and the PSA Train-the-Trainer course. By combining the training for growers and trainers on Day 1 of the workshop, trainers will have the opportunity to engage in discussions and learn from the questions grower participants ask. Day 2 of the workshop will be for trainers only, focusing on adult learning techniques and additional presentations to ensure trainers are prepared to deliver the FSMA Produce Safety Rule modules to growers.
Growers that attend this course will satisfy the FSMA Produce Safety Rule requirement outlined in § 112.22 (c) that requires “At least one supervisor or responsible party for your farm must have successfully completed food safety training at least equivalent to that received under standardized curriculum recognized as adequate by the Food and Drug Administration.”
Grower participants that attend Day 1 of the workshop will be eligible to receive the PSA Grower Training Course certificate of attendance from the Association for Food and Drug Officials (AFDO), and trainers that attend both Days 1 and 2 of the workshop will be eligible to receive the PSA Train-the-Trainer Course certificate. Participation for the entire training (Growers-Day 1; Trainers Days 1 and 2) is required for this certificate.
When: Wednesday, April 1st AND Thursday, April 2nd, 2020 from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm

Registration is limited to 20 growers and 30 trainers. The total cost to attend varies depending on participation on Day 1 only (growers; $30) or on both days (trainers; $100). Registration includes the training materials, lunch, refreshments and a Certificate of Course Attendance (Grower and/or Trainer) issued by AFDO.
Pre-registration is required, no on-site registration will be accepted. Full payment of the registration fee must be made at the time of registration. The Registration fee is non-refundable.
Funding from the Washington State Department of Agriculture Produce Safety Program greatly reduced the cost of training.
