Taiwan orchard/bin & cull cutter training – Prosser
August 4, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pmFree
The Taiwan Systems Approach Work Plan for exporting apples to Taiwan requires orchard sampling or field bin sampling to determine orchard lots eligibility for consideration for export. Those performing orchard and/or bin sampling must attend a mandatory training session (every 2 years) if they don’t have a Pest Consultant’s License (PCO) or a Commercial Applicator’s License issued by WSDA.
The work plan also requires facilities wishing to export apples to Taiwan to have a minimum of 2 certified cull cutting technicians to sample for codling moth infestation. Certified cull cutters may also perform the field bin sampling prior to running fruit to determine lot eligibility. Retraining should be repeated every 2 years.
This training session will cover both orchard and field bin sampling, and cull cutter certification. In addition to the Taiwan sampling protocols, China’s 40-fruit sample technique will be included for industry convenience. Anyone that trained last year doesn’t need to attend again this years (i.e., no significant changes to either work plan).
